delivering content, and engaging auditory learners.<\/p>\n<p>Educators use audio hosting websites when they want to embed their audio within embedded players rather than uploading them directly to posts as a links. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/audioboo.fm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Audio Boo<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SoundCloud<\/a>\u00a0are the most commonly used audio hosting websites.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>AudioBoo<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/audioboo.fm\/\">AudioBoo<\/a>\u00a0is a website, and a smartphone and tablet app, which allows users to post and share sound files.<\/p>\n<p>The AudioBoo embedded below was used by the teacher to\u00a0help students practice learning about nouns and naming words. \u00a0You can see how the teacher used Audio boo with her students in her\u00a0<a title=\"Permanent Link to Audioboo \u2013 Time for Grammar \u2013 Nouns and Naming Words\" href=\"http:\/\/merrybeau.edublogs.org\/2013\/01\/09\/audioboo-time-for-grammar-nouns-and-naming-words\/\" rel=\"bookmark\">Audioboo \u2013 Time for Grammar \u2013 Nouns and Naming Words<\/a>\u00a0post.<\/p>\n<p>Students under 13 can create their own AudioBoo&#8217;s provided it is part of a school-led initiative.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"background-color: transparent; display: block; max-width: 700px;\" title=\"audioBoom player\" src=\"\/\/embeds.audioboom.com\/posts\/1147172-time-for-grammar-nouns-or-naming-words\/embed\/v4?eid=AQAAAMxGHVkkgREA\" width=\"100%\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class=\"ab-player\" data-boourl=\"https:\/\/audioboo.fm\/boos\/1147172-time-for-grammar-nouns-or-naming-words\/embed\"><\/div>\n<h4><strong>SoundCloud<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/\">SoundCloud<\/a> is an online audio distribution platform that allows users to upload, record, promote, and share their own sounds.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/moran-mustangs\/gideon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">teacher used the Soundcloud embedded below<\/a> to engage the students, showcase their creativity, and make the essence of a story memorable.\u00a0<\/span>You can read more about the activity and check out their Soundclouds here.<\/p>\n<p>Your students must be over 13 if you want them to upload their own audio to Soundcloud.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F45954528\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>Audio Presentation Tools<\/h3>\n<p>Audio is used for a wide range of purposes including grammar and fluency reading practices; delivering content, and engaging auditory learners.<\/p>\n<p>Audio presentation tools allow you to combine images (or videos) with audio. \u00a0Popular audio presentation tools include Fotobabble;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/voicethread.com\/\">VoiceThreads<\/a>; and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.voki.com\/\">Voki<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Fotobabble<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Fotobabble\u00a0enables you to create a talking photo. \u00a0It is excellent for speaking practice and students find it engaging.<\/p>\n<p>The Fotobabble embedded below was created by an ESL student. \u00a0Their task was to choose a photo from a field trip and use Fotobabble to talk about what they like about the trip and what they learnt. \u00a0You&#8217;ll find links to all their fotobabble <a href=\"http:\/\/sacschoolblogs.org\/eld2\/2011\/05\/26\/san-francisco-fotobabble\/\">in the comments here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Another task the students did was to make a one-minute Fotobabble\u00a0review of a book using a book image sourced from Amazon. \u00a0You can read more about the <a href=\"http:\/\/larryferlazzo.edublogs.org\/2011\/06\/12\/making-book-trailers-with-fotobabble\/\">process of creating the Fotobabble and check out all their book reviews here<\/a>. \u00a0Fotobabble was also used to <a href=\"http:\/\/larryferlazzo.edublogs.org\/2016\/11\/19\/a-look-back-using-freire-fotobabble-with-english-language-learners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">share their artwork<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Your students must be over 13 if you want them to create their own Fotobabbles.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Voicethreads<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/voicethread.com\/\">VoiceThreads<\/a> is an online media album that can contain any type of media and it allows other people to make comments in 5 different ways (voice using a microphone or telephone, text, audio, or video).<\/p>\n<p>Embedded below is a Voicethread created by Michael Graffin&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/mgraffin.edublogs.org\/2011\/05\/10\/whats-the-point-of-a-pln\/\">PLN Voicethread Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">You can read more about using Voicethreads with students here. \u00a0Students under 13 are allowed to have a Voicethreads account provided it is created by the educator or school.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Voki<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.voki.com\/\">Voki<\/a>\u00a0allows you to create talking avatars which is excellent for speaking practice and engaging students. \u00a0 Teachers and students also like to add them to their blog sidebar to welcome visitors to their blogs.\u00a0You can embed Vokis in posts and pages.<\/p>\n<p>Students under 13 can create their own Vokis.<\/p>\n<h3>Brainstorming Tools<\/h3>\n<p>Brainstorming tools help\u00a0students think up new and creative ideas quickly and easily. Students can also <a href=\"https:\/\/storybird.com\/read\/?sort=popular&amp;format=picturebook\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">browse their Picture book gallery<\/a> and embed Storybirds created by others into posts. \u00a0You need to be logged into a Storybird account to access the embed code. \u00a0You can only embed Picture Books into posts.<\/p>\n<p>Students under 13 are allowed to create their own Storybirds.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve embedded <a href=\"https:\/\/storybird.com\/books\/storybird-a-simple-guide-for-teachers-and-students\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Storybirds: A Simple Guide for Teachers and Students<\/a>\u00a0below so you can see what a Storybird looks like. \u00a0You can check out some <a href=\"http:\/\/juniorsblackburn.edublogs.org\/2015\/06\/24\/narratives-on-storybird\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">examples of Storybirds created by students here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/storybird.com\/books\/storybird-a-simple-guide-for-teachers-and-students\/embed\/\" width=\"436\" height=\"272\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>Comic and Cartoon Tools<\/h3>\n<p>Comic and cartoon tools can be very engaging for students, especially visual learners, and are another way that students can enhance their posts with images.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>ToonDoo<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>ToonDoo is a comic strip and comic book creation tool. is a curation platform that enables users to collect news, articles, and other sources found on the Internet, and share them on their own custom-themed Scoop.it! site. \u00a0Scop.it! is like a social bookmarking website but with a visual, online magazine-like format.<\/p>\n<p>Some bloggers set up their Scoop.it! account to auto post<a href=\"http:\/\/feedback.scoop.it\/knowledgebase\/articles\/32038-2-3-how-to-link-a-wordpress-blog-\">\u00a0their scoops to their blog<\/a>. \u00a0You can also <a href=\"http:\/\/dogtrax.edublogs.org\/2012\/07\/27\/scoop-it-writing-in-a-digital-age\/\">embed a link to your Scoop.it site in a post or page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Students over 13 can use\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scoop.it\/\">Scoop.it<\/a>!
